Recategorising damaged or reduced-value stock

started a topic about 1 year ago

We need a way to recategorise stock that has reduced value or different characteristics but which we still need to keep in inventory. For example, returned items that have been unboxed, or items with cosmetic damage that could still be sold at a reduced price.

Currently the only way to do this is to write off the original stock and then add it back in as a completely new product. This is time consuming for products with individual serial numbers, prone to errors.

More broadly, we need a way to handle quality control within DEAR as part of the stock receiving process. Currently the best we can do is receive the stock to a special QC bin and then perform a stock transfer for the units that passed and a stock adjustment for the units that failed. This feels like a hamfisted workaround, particularly for items with individual serial numbers.
