Product Deals can be used to apply or combine discounts at the order level for your customers, for example if the customer's order has met a certain criteria, such as including certain products or brands, or meeting a certain order amount.

These deals will not be visible to your customers in the DEAR B2B portal until after they have added enough products to their order to meet the criteria. For this reason, we recommend advertising your discounts using either a Group of Banners or Carousel (see Page Elements for more information).

Product Deals are different from discounts that are applied to individual products. For more information, see Product Discounts.

NOTE: Discounts applied in B2B portal sales cannot currently be displayed as a percentage in DEAR web portal due to system settings that prevent precision rounding errors, instead, a discounted price is shown. Discount percentage will be displayed in the quote memo, sale order memo, and sale invoice memo fields of a sale in DEAR for informational purposes.

Prerequisites

  • Familiarity with Product Discounts (required)
  • Product discount templates (at least one)
  • Set up Products (required)
  • Set up Customers (recommended)
  • Users will need the Inventory: Stock – Product Discounts permission to use this feature.

Creating a Cart-Level Deal

Before creating a cart-level deal, you must have already created a product discount template to use for it. Multiple discounts can be added to each deal. (e.g. Summer special - 10% off sportswear and 20% off swimwear.)

NOTE: If more than one discount applies to a product, only the best discount is applied to a transaction. Discounts do not stack. The only exceptions to this are Customer Discounts set from the customer page if Apply customer discount after other discounts is enabled, or order line discounts added manually during a sale.

For example, if you want to create a cart-level discount that gives a customer 20% off their order, you must first make a product discount template for 20% off. Cart-level deals can only use Simple discounts (see Simple Discounts for more information).

Create a cart-level deal:

  1. Create the product discount template for your deal
  2. Navigate to Settings → Reference Books → Stock → Product Deals.
  3. On the New Deal page, enter a name for the deal - this is an internal reference for you to keep track of your deals.
  4. The deal is Active by default. You may select Inactive to make the deal available for use at a later date.
  5. Optionally, select a range of dates for the Effective To and Effective From date fields. These will be the dates for when the deal will be in effect for customer transactions.
  6. By default, Customer Type is set to All customers, meaning the deal is applicable to all customers. You may limit coverage to B2B customers or POS customers only. You can also make the deal applicable to either individual customers by clicking Selected and entering or searching for eligible customers, or customers with specific customer tags by clicking With Tags...and entering or searching for the customer tags that the deal will be available to (you must first have created Customer Tags and added them to Customers).
  7. To allow coupons to be used with the deal, click and enable Allow Coupons.
  8. Either click Save, then proceed to adding one or more discounts to the deal. You can also add or more discounts to the deal before saving the deal.

Adding a Simple Discount to a Deal

Simple deals that do not require a certain quantity of units to be bought can be applied at the shopping cart level. More than one discount can be added to the deal by clicking Add discount.

Add a simple discount to a deal:

  1. Ensure the Order-level box is NOT checked.
  2. Select the product discount to be applied to the deal from the list.
  3. Select a Brand, Category, Tag or Product to apply the discount to and click the + button to the right. Add as many Brands, Categories, Tags and/or Products as required. In this example, a 10% off promotion is applied to Adidas products.
  4. Click Save.

When a DEAR user processes a sale, if the Automatically Apply Discounts setting is set to Yes, any applicable product discounts will be added automatically when the sale quote or sale order is authorised.

If the Automatically Apply Discounts setting is set to No, the user must click Apply Discounts for the product discount to be applied.

Adding a Quantity-Based Discount to a Deal

Any deal that requires one or more items to be added to the cart to be activated should be made here. More than one discount can be added to the deal.

DEAR’s Product Deal module offers a lot of flexibility in creating quantity-based deals, e.g. they can be applied to individual products, any product in a brand/category or tag, or  can be used to give a fixed free item, among others.

Add a quantity-based discount to a deal:

  1. Ensure the Order-level box is checked.
  2. Select the product discount to be applied to the deal from the list. The discount will be applied to the Get quantity of items.
    • If Get: Order Total is selected, the discount will be applied to the order total.
  3. Select the number of items required in the order for the deal to apply. For example, for a Buy one get one  free deal, the number should be 1 for Buy, 1 for Get.
  4. Select the item criteria (Brand, Category, Tag, etc.) for Buy and Get and click the button to the right to ensure that they are added to the deal. In this example, our BOGOF deal will only apply to the Adidas brand.
  5. Click Save.

Adding a Free Shipping Discount to a Deal

This simple discount applies free shipping to orders over a certain amount. You must first create a Free Shipping discount template before creating a Free Shipping Product Deal (see Discounts for more information).

NOTE: Free Shipping discounts and deals are only applicable to B2B orders and orders from DEAR Inventory, it is not applied to orders captured from eCommerce channels such as Shopify.

Free Shipping for B2B orders will be applied when going through the checkout process. Free Shipping for DEAR orders  is applied as a negative additional charge on Sale Quote, Sale Order, and Sale Invoice pages of a sale order.

Add a free shipping discount to a deal:

  1. Select the Free Shipping discount to be applied to the deal from the list.
  2. Click Save.

Using Deal Coupons

Product Deals can be applied to every order, provided the deal conditions are met. Coupons allow you to limit a discount or deal to a certain quantity per customer or to limit a deal to certain customers or groups of customers.

Creating a Deal Coupon

Coupons need to be created before they can be applied in sales transactions by your customers.

Create a coupon:

  1. Navigate to Settings → Reference Books → Product Deals.
  2. Either select an existing Deal to add a coupon to, or create a new Deal.
  3. In the Deal, enable Allow Coupons option.
  4. Under the Coupons section, list the Coupon Codes that can be applied to the deal. To limit the use of the coupon to just one, click the Single Coupon Code Usagebutton on the top right. This means that the coupon can only be used once. Do not turn on this option if you want multi-use coupons to be used by multiple customers while the deal is active.
    • NOTE: You can use the Report tab to see which coupon codes have been used by your customers.
  5. You can distribute your coupon codes over your website, or directly to your customers via email or text message.
  6. Select which discount is applied when the coupon is redeemed. As above, you will need to have already created the Product Discount.

Applying a Deal Coupon

A sales order must be saved before a coupon can be applied to a transaction.

Apply a coupon:

  1. Create a sales order that fulfils the coupon criteria, and then save it.
  2. Click the Apply Coupon button that appears after you save the sales order.
  3. On the Apply Coupon window,  enter the Coupon Code into the box, then click Apply Coupon.
  4. If the coupon code exists (and has not already been used, for a single-use coupon), the applicable discount is applied to the order.
