Planned
Reorder up to Maximum Inventory Level, not fixed Reorder Quantity

started a topic over 8 years ago

It doesn't seem useful in our business for Reorder Quantity to be a fixed number. Instead, the quantity on a PO should calculated to be whatever is necessary to get inventory up to a "Maximum Inventory Level". If Stock Level is less than Minimum Before Reorder, then purchase Maximum Inventory Level minus Stock Level.

For example for a product:

Minimum before reorder is 50

Maximum Inventory Level is 100

Available is 30

Low Stock Reorder should create a PO for a quantity of 70.

  • Went to look at MRP tool. Looks so complicated. It is an advanced thing for business that has people dedicated to order full time.

It would be so simple to have :

    Target quantity : 100
Order by batch of : 20

Would trigger a re-order of 60 when stock reach 40

Would trigger a re-order of 100 when stock reach 0

It's still 2 variables only, can reuse the re-order module, it's just much more useful and efficient.

    Please DEAR re-consider.

    Thanks!

  • You also need to add pack quantities, MOQ's and Min Values to set the correct order parameters for the correct creation of an order.

  • UPVOTE times 10

  • Fully agree on combining backorder requirements with low stock reordering. Otherwise you have to manually combine these every time!

  • Having a MAX re-ordering is a smart way to go.  It should however be as SETTINGS option - reorder qty OR order to max

This is issue has been around for awhile and for us to max our stock levels we need MAX option

  • This is also my client's dilemma.  Are there any updates on this?

  • Hi there,

It doesn't look as though anything has been done on the merging of the Reorder and Reorder Backordered request: https://dearsystems.freshdesk.com/support/discussions/topics/11000030393

Looks like this topic has been closed and I can't comment on it.

  • Hello Dear, any update on this one? I have been looking at Smart Reordering also, but not sure that does what we need (may have to log a ticket for that to clarify with you).

  • Yes please!

  • Hi DEAR team,

Are there any updates on this functionality?
    Thanks!

  • This was requested ages ago and would be SO HELPFULL

With all the other functions added and the increase in costs, it surely this really simple change is long overdue ??

  • This is a good idea, it makes far more sense, the most logical process is to show the maximum inventory level within the PO, then you can make a simple calculation. It maybe that you just need to tweak the qty's to reach a certain threshold for carriage free order or MOQ's

  • Honestly, the cost increase and lacking this functionality has caused us to bail on DEAR and go elsewhere.

  • Brand new to DEAR Systems here, I've been impressed by its set of features and useability, but there is two fundamental problems we have which almost turned us away.

    1. This issue.

We have some expensive units we must keep 5 in stock at all times, if we sell one, order 1, if we sell 5 order 5. This system is suggesting we buy 5 units when we've sold 1, we can't afford to have 10!

Let us order up to minimum stock.

    2. Case quantity reordering

The "Product Availability" screen will tell you how many units can be assembed using the "Additional Units of Measure" feature. Even the tool tip in places will tell you. But when it comes to "Smart" reordering, it just shows 0.

For Example: We sell paint brushes, we buy a box and sell them as individual. Every month we go to re-order and it says we have 0 boxes in stock and suggest we order the "Fixed Amount (see problem 1). We're so close to one click re-ordering, it looks amazing, but we just can't use it!

How are people working around this?
