Barcode scanning convert from case to unit of measure for order - DEAR Web and DEAR WMS
There are a number of places in DEAR where we would like to be able to scan the barcode of an additional unit of measure and have DEAR convert to the unit of measure for that order.
For example, let's say we have a SKU WIDGET-001-EACH that has an additional unit of measure of 150 to the master case which is SKU WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE.
For Sale Order Fulfillment, let's say we have a customer order for 600 WIDGET-001-EACH. For the fulfillment of that order, on the Pick or Pack, we would like to be able to scan the barcode for WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE and have DEAR recognize that this is a valid SKU for the Sale Order and convert the scan to 150 eaches. There could be an interim step which the system allows for entry of how many WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE there are, in the example scenario there could be entry of 4 master cases, and then after that does the system does the conversion to eaches, in the example scenario, 600 eaches.
We would like to be able to do the same for Purchase Order Receiving. We have a PO for 30,000 of SKU WIDGET-001-EACH and when we receive them, they come in 200 master cases SKU WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE. When we receive the order, we would like to be able to scan the barcode for WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE and have DEAR recognize that this is a valid SKU for the Purchase Order and convert the scan to 150 eaches. There could be an interim step which the system allows for entry of how many WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE and then does the conversion. Our use case for this would be that as we unload the container from the factory, we load them onto pallets, 40 cases per pallet. As we complete each case, we would like to be able to scan the master case WIDGET-150-MASTERCASE, enter 40 for the number of master cases, and then save that to DEAR as a partial receiving.
Sale Order Fulfillment and Purchase Order Receiving are our two most important use-cases, but when implementing this, it would make sense to implement for other places when barcode scanning takes place, including Transfers, Stocktakes, Stock Adjustments, and Write Offs (and anything else I may have forgotten).
Also, note, this feature set is requested for both the web DEAR interface and the DEAR WMS.
