Assignment of COGS at Customer Level

I have many clients who want to assign COGS to Sales Channels so that they can see their profitability by sales channel on the P&L. They often arrive to implementing DEAR with corresponding revenue and COGS accounts. Assignment of COGS at the customer level would give this functionality. There is already a setting for the revenue account for a customer, so it seems like a no-brainer to give the assignment of COGS, too.
Am I missing something here? Is there any reason why the assignment of COGS at the Customer level does not exist?
With the current DEAR set-up options, if you want to track COGS at a sales channel level in your Chart Of Accounts, you need to use a DEAR reports and reclassify COGS from a general catch-all account to the separate sales channel COGS accounts.
Looking forward to this feature being implemented.
