Access documents via the API

We need to be able to access order documents - that is, all invoices, credits and picking slips, via the API. At the moment it appears as if the documents only appear as an attachment after they are manually printed. This is not an acceptable solution of course...we need to be able to retrieve these documents for ALL orders at all times.
