Stock allocation with Backordered item (hard and soft)
We have discovered that there is a problem with DEAR’s stock allocation function.
Currently, if you create an SO and backorder some of its items because they are out of stock, when they arrive to the warehouse they are not automatically assigned to the SO that requested them. Moreover, in the product availability report, you can observe that there are two rows for the item; One corresponding to the backordered items (where you can see they are allocated to the SO) and a another row showing the items that arrived at the warehouse (On hand and Available). These two lines are not related and, therefore, any other SO can pick the items that arrived to the warehouse.
As per how we understand the process, the items should be allocated to the SO that requested them as soon as they arrive to the warehouse. This way, you prevent SOs to pick each others backordered items.
The workaround that DEAR team proposed us is to pick the items in a regular basis to ‘book’ them, but this alternative does not allow us to transfer the items around the warehouse as they are virtually no longer there (for the system they are being packed/shipped).
Therefore, what we are requesting is to have backordered items allocated to the SO that requested them as soon as they arrive to the warehouse.
