Hardware Installation


Printers and barcode scanners can be connected to your DEAR POS device.


Prerequisites:

Currently only star TSP650II bluetooth printer & Clover built in printer are supported with DEAR POS.


Star TSP650II printer

To install TSP650II printer:

  1. Pair printer with tablet device as per STAR printer instructions handbook.
  2. Within DEAR POS go to Menu > Setup > Printer setup 



  1. In the Printer Name field, enter exactly the same name of the printer as shown in the bluetooth settings of the tablet.
  2. Simulator mode:
    • Disable simulator mode if you want to physically print to paper
    • Enable simulator mode to have receipts pop up on screen rather than be physically printed
  3. Click Save
  4. Click Test connection button. If all settings are correct the message about successful connection will appear.
  5. Click Test print. If all info is correct a small test receipt will be printed.




Clover Printer

Clover printer comes pre-installed, therefore you do not need to perform any manual steps to pair it with your tablet device.


To install Clover Printer:

  1. Within DEAR POS go to Menu > Setup > Printer setup
  2. Make sure to select the correct paper width as per instructions manual.
  3. Simulator mode:
    • Disable simulator mode if you want to physically print to paper
    • Enable simulator mode to have receipts pop up on screen rather than be physically printed
  4. Click Save
  5. Click Test connection button. If all settings are correct the message about successful connection will appear.
  6. Click Test Print. If all info is correct a small test receipt will be printed.


Barcode Scanner

Barcode scanners can be paired with your tablet device according to the barcode scanner manufacturers manual. 


No special steps are required to be taken within DEAR POS for connection of barcode scanners. Every barcode scanner that can be attached as hardware to your PC/MAC or tablet is supported.



To Install barcode scanner:

  1. Within DEAR POS go to Menu > Setup > Scanner setup
  2. You will be taken to scanner test area where symbols should appear if barcode scanner is attached and you can test scan real barcodes.


NOTE: iPad keyboard will be disabled when your device detects another device that acts as a hardware keyboard (most barcode scanners are detected as hardware keyboards). If you want to use your scanner together with the device keyboard you need to switch the Enable software keyboard option in the Scanner setup page.
